Terms of Service
Effective 21 May 2026 · Atlanta, Georgia
1. About RunLane
RunLane is a web application that operates a digital freight marketplace connecting shippers with independent motor carriers. RunLane is a technology platform only — it is not a freight broker, motor carrier, or freight forwarder, and does not take possession of or assume liability for any cargo transported through the platform.
By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use RunLane.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to enter binding contracts on behalf of any business you represent. Carriers must hold a valid FMCSA operating authority and maintain the minimum insurance coverage required under federal law.
3. Geographic scope
RunLane currently operates on the Atlanta, GA ↔ Miami, FL lane only. Shipment requests and carrier routes outside this corridor are not supported at this time.
4. Carrier obligations
- Maintain a valid FMCSA Motor Carrier operating authority at all times.
- Carry a minimum of $1,000,000 in commercial auto liability insurance and provide a current Certificate of Liability Insurance (ACORD 25 or equivalent).
- Upload accurate compliance documents (CDL, insurance certificate, FMCSA authority letter) and keep them current.
- Only accept loads that match your declared equipment type and weight capacity.
- Post accurate GPS tracking updates during transit.
- Not subcontract or re-broker any load booked through RunLane without prior written consent.
5. Shipper obligations
- Provide accurate cargo descriptions, weights, and pickup/delivery information.
- Ensure cargo is properly packaged and ready for pickup within the stated window.
- Not ship prohibited cargo (see Section 6).
- Confirm delivery promptly once the load has been received in good order.
6. Prohibited cargo
The following cargo types are prohibited on the RunLane platform:
- Hazardous materials (HAZMAT) as defined by 49 CFR
- Live animals or livestock
- Firearms, ammunition, or explosives
- Alcohol requiring a special carrier permit
- Controlled substances or illegal goods of any kind
- Human remains
Shippers who book a load containing prohibited cargo are responsible for all consequences, including fines, confiscation, and any resulting carrier costs.
7. Payments and fees
RunLane charges a 15% platform fee on top of the carrier's quoted rate. The fee and total charge are shown to shippers before booking — there are no additional or hidden charges at checkout. Carriers receive their full quoted rate via Stripe Connect Express, typically within 2 business days of delivery confirmation; payment processing fees are absorbed by RunLane out of the platform fee.
Payment is authorized (but not captured) at booking and captured only when the shipper confirms delivery. See our Cancellation Policy for refund terms.
8. Cargo liability
RunLane is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged shipments. RunLane is a technology marketplace only and does not take possession of, transport, or insure any cargo at any time.
All insurance claims arising from loss, theft, or damage to cargo in transit must be filed directly with the carrier. The carrier is solely responsible for handling and resolving all such claims under their own insurance policy and applicable law, including the Carmack Amendment (49 U.S.C. § 14706).
Shippers are encouraged to purchase independent cargo insurance for high-value loads. RunLane does not offer cargo insurance and makes no representation regarding the adequacy of any carrier's coverage.
9. Dispute resolution
In the event of a dispute between a shipper and carrier, contact RunLane support at support@run-lane.com. RunLane may, at its sole discretion, mediate disputes but is not obligated to do so and does not act as an arbitrator.
Any legal dispute arising out of these Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Fulton County, Georgia.
10. Account suspension and termination
RunLane reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time for violations of these Terms, fraudulent activity, repeated cancellations, poor trust scores, or any behaviour that harms other users of the platform. Suspended accounts may not create new accounts.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RunLane's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) the platform fees paid by you in the 3 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100.
RunLane is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms with a new effective date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
