How RunLane works

Everything you need to know to post your first shipment or start earning on your backhaul lanes.

  1. 1

    Create your account

Sign up with your email or Google account. Your shipper profile is provisioned automatically — no extra setup needed.

  2. 2

    Post a shipment

Enter pickup and delivery addresses, cargo type (dry van, flatbed, reefer, or LTL), total weight, priority, and your pickup window. As you fill in the form, RunLane shows a live market-rate estimate calculated from lane distance, weight, cargo type, and priority — no need to guess or research a target price.

  3. 3

Get matched in under 60 seconds

RunLane's AI scans FMCSA-verified carriers with active routes near your lane, scores them on route efficiency, reliability, cargo fit, price, availability, and proximity — then returns the top 3 ranked matches.

  4. 4

    Review your matches

Each match card shows the carrier's company name, trust score, composite match score, and your all-in price (the carrier's rate plus RunLane's 15% platform fee, broken out below). The page header shows the market rate range for the lane, and a warning appears on any match priced above market — so you can see at a glance whether a quote is fair. Open the score breakdown to see exactly why each carrier was ranked where they were.

  5. 5

    Book your carrier

Select a carrier and click Book. You'll see a clear cost breakdown — carrier rate, RunLane fee (15%), and total charge — then enter your payment details. The card is authorized but not charged yet. Your funds are held until you confirm delivery.

  6. 6

    Track your load

Your carrier posts GPS updates as they move. Watch the live map on your shipment detail page from pickup through delivery.

  7. 7

    Confirm delivery & pay

Once your load arrives in good condition, click Confirm Delivery. Payment is captured automatically and transferred to the carrier. If the carrier cancels before pickup, your card is never charged.

  8. 8

    Leave a review

Rate your carrier on timeliness, cargo condition, and communication. Reviews feed directly into carrier trust scores, keeping the network quality high.
